MAY 15, 2026 (HOUSTON, TX) — The Alliance for Texas History will hold its second annual conference May 27-29 on the campus of Texas Christian University in Fort Worth. The Alliance for Texas History (www.atxh.org), founded in March 2024, focuses on the future of Texas’s past through historical analysis, dialogue, and perspective. Its mission is to foster a comprehensive understanding of Texas's rich and diverse history. The organization’s mission and values reflect a commitment to ensuring that the stories of all people are told. In only two years, the Alliance has grown to over 700 members.
The program for the organization’s annual conference includes presentations on a variety of topics, offering both a historical perspective on past events and an examination of how history is instructive for the present. The full conference program is available at www.atxh.org/2026-conference. Thirty-one sessions led by academic historians, independent researchers, and graduate students of history will be presented over three days. The Alliance is deeply committed to students of history and is providing over $10,000 in stipends to help students attend and present at the conference.
The conference also includes a keynote address by Skip Hollandsworth, a widely published author and, since 1989, a staff writer for Texas Monthly. Hollandsworth will speak about a heinous historical crime in Austin from his book, The Midnight Assassin: The Hunt for America’s First Serial Killer. Hollandsworth will recount the events and offer a journalist’s perspective on this infamous criminal history.
